WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert sent a memo to teams that addresses ongoing discussions around transgender athletes in women's basketball.

Former NBA standout Monta Ellis, who played in the league for more than a decade without playing college basketball, will serve as general manager at Alcorn State this season, the school announced Friday.

The Women's National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) released a statement, emphasizing diversity and inclusion while saying the organization "will not be used as political pawns."

Former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom said he is declaring for the 2027 WNBA Draft, saying he has examined the league's eligibility rules and believes they make him eligible. "My team and I have carefully examined the WNBA's eligibility criteria and governing framework surrounding self-identification and inclusion," the former basketball player said. "Based on the current guidelines, I can and am officially declaring my eligibility for the upcoming WNBA draft in April 2027."

Clark already has the most 20-point, 10-assist games in WNBA history. But her game remains a work in progress.
